CAPTAIN INDIKA DE SILVA APPOINTED AS NEW NAVY MEDIA COORDINATOR

Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne has appointed Captain Indika De Silva as the new Media Coordinatorof the Sri Lanka Navy with effect from 15th July 2020. 

Captain IndikaDe Silva is product of the Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda and joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1996 as an Officer Cadet of the 25th Intake. He received his commissionin 1998 as  an officer in the Executive Branch. The officer has been serving in the Navy for  more than 24 years in which he has held a number of appointments of various capacities. Captain Indika De Silva has successfully completed the Naval Command and Staff Course at the US Naval War College, Rhode Island. Being a specialist navigator, Captain Silva received his specialization in Navigation from India and Advanced Navigation from China as well.

Prior being appointedas the Navy Media Coordinator, Captain Indika De Silva held office as the Director Operationsin  the   Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Besides the officer   has also held appointments of Commanding Officer and Exeuctive Officer onboard various naval ships as well as at shore establishments during his naval career. In recognition of his acts of gallantary onboard Fast Attack Craft, Fast Gun Boats  and  Offshore  Patrol Vessels Captain  Indika De Silva has been awarded the Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) twice.
